This sculpture turns growth into an act of transcendence. A tree rises beyond a rigid geometric frame, refusing to remain contained by the structure that surrounds its roots. Its trunk, branches, and crown are formed from Rahadian’s recurring human figures, suggesting that growth is never singular. It is built through accumulation, cooperation, memory, and the presence of others. The tree becomes a collective body, shaped by many individual lives yet moving toward a form greater than any one of them.

Below, the roots descend into the box and are likewise composed of small figures. Theyfunction as both foundation and constraint, grounding the tree while connectingit to the structure it ultimately exceeds. The work therefore does not treatthe box simply as something to escape. It becomes the condition from whichtransformation begins. Outside the Box proposes that progress does not requirethe rejection of one’s foundations, but the capacity to grow beyond theirlimits. What sustains us may also define our boundaries, and true developmentbegins when those boundaries are no longer accepted as the final shape ofpossibility.
