Lambang Hernanda is a contemporary Indonesian visual artist whose practice bridges painting, drawing, and the operational craft of exhibition-making. Born and raised in Purworejo, Central Java, he is a visual artist who works concurrently as an art handler, a dual identity that has shaped both his visual sensibility and his understanding of how works inhabit space. His path to art was nurtured at home, his father, a school art teacher, instilled an early discipline in drawing, before a brief tenure studying fine art at Universitas Negeri Semarang led him to his intended destination, the Visual Communication Design programme at the Indonesian Institute of Art (ISI) Yogyakarta, which he entered in the 2012 cohort.

His formative years at ISI Yogyakarta placed him at the centre of one of Indonesia's most active drawing communities. He served as Chair of the DisKom Drawing Foundation in the 2014–2015 period, an artist-led platform initiated by the prominent young painter Oky Rey Monta (Kirey) to gather ISI students committed to drawing as a primary discipline. He has worked closely as a studio assistant to Kirey, a relationship that has informed the textural and gestural sensibility of his own work, and his early experience as an art handler immersed him in the technical and curatorial dynamics of major Yogyakarta art events including Festival Kesenian Yogyakarta (FKY) and Kembulan, giving him a working fluency in how contemporary art is produced, installed, and presented.

His studio practice is anchored in painting, with recurring works in acrylic on canvas at substantial scale. Recent works such as Keep it or Leave it (2024) demonstrate a confident command of composition and a personal vocabulary that draws on figurative drawing traditions while engaging contemporary themes of choice, memory, and the visual culture of his generation. The discipline he developed through assisting senior artists and handling works of significant value translates into a meticulous attention to surface, finish, and the integrity of the finished object, qualities increasingly recognised by collectors of younger Indonesian contemporary art.

His work has been presented through Yogyakarta's contemporary exhibition circuit, including the Hepi Hepi group exhibition with the HEPI collective of five young artists from ISI Yogyakarta, and is currently represented in the international market through Jakarta Art District, with works listed for sale via Artsy. In April 2026 he was invited to deliver a public lecture at the Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR), ISI Yogyakarta, on exhibition presentation, packaging, and the collaboration between artists, curators, and art directors, recognition that reflects his standing not only as a working artist but as a respected practitioner within Indonesia's contemporary art infrastructure.
